The auto dance
taken from our bus in Positano. The one thing I loved about Italy was the driving (not doing it, but watching it). It is like a dance, and the roads the dance-floor. One is expected to know what to do and any mis-step is frowned upon. I equate it to my bicycle riding, when I slow done as I approach a stop sign because a car has arrived at the intersection before I have and should go first. Then they are "polite" and let me go first - this is not a favour because now I have to quickly change my rhythm.
the famous Italian Grottos
I was expecting a real photographic experience visiting the grottoes on the Amalfi coast. Probably my biggest disappointment - felt like cattle and the boat "captain" repeated the same three phrases 20 times and each time it was followed by "don't forget to give your driver....."
My best picture was of the person in front of me taking his picture!
Why Italy and the Eurozone will have problems
All the news these days is about the collapse of the Eurozone and that one of the primary reasons is that the taxpayers of a number of countries are not paying their fair share; and that most of the countries done run like a Germany. I took this photo at the airport where you could get your tax back on your purchases. Notice no-one in front of the refund stand- and the line-up next door for the information as to why "you do not have the right forms etc..."
Return to Italy (useless doors)
I had to return to my Italy pictures, as travelling always rejuvenates one's creative juices, and I still haven't really absorbed all my pictures yet. So many new subjects to photograph - but no need to desert what I already take photos of. (I wonder how many projects started in Italy will follow me home)
