From Robert Frank's the Americans

From Robert Frank's "The Americans". This image captivates me. It seems to me unlikely that this is what he meant to take - and that this is a photo created from the editing process.

I believe that in the old days the photographer left his camera on F8 at a certain focal distance and because there wasn't as much need for the golden hour light in Black and White, this system was very efficient.

With the auto-focus cameras of today, I don't think this photo would be taken anymore.
